Policy Working Group on future EU circular and social economy initiatives

Join us for our next monthly policy working group on 8 May, 2025 on Zoom. In this session, we would like to discuss and get your precious input on important policy areas, including the following:

  • The Social Economy Action Plan mid-term review: as we kick off meetings with the EU Commission, we would like to share the latest insights and continue the discussions on which EU-level social economy initiatives you would like to see for 2026-2030.
  • Circular VAT: On behalf of the EC, a consultancy requested our expertise for the following VAT aspects:
    • VAT and the circular economy,
    • second-hand goods scheme,
    • VAT on donations,
    • use of differentiated rates to promote sustainable consumption.

The interview results will feed into a study of the European Commission aiming to assess weaknesses and opportunities in the existing EU VAT system. We would then like to hear from you about your national-level experiences to support our main advocacy points. To refresh your minds, you can also refer to our 2022 internal guidelines (member area and attached) created exclusively for members on occasion of the last reform.

  • The WEEE Directive revision: an opportunity to receive the latest updates and provide input, including on the consolidation of our answer to the ongoing study informing the impact and technical assessment of the revision.
