The social furniture recovery workshop of Fundació Formació i Treball in Barcelona aims to recover unwanted furniture while supporting vulnerable communities and fostering meaningful employment opportunities.
Launched in 2021, the Verdaderos Hogares (“True Homes”) project focuses on repairing and reassembling second-hand furniture into functional pieces for the homes of people in need. The workshop handles approximately 9 tonnes of furniture each month!
Central to their mission is a committed team, with more than half of the participants being individuals involved in work insertion programs. These participants receive practical training and acquire essential skills that prepare them for long-term employment.
This is one of the stories we’re proud to spotlight in our project on Social Enterprises’ Role in Furniture and Mattresses’ Circularity.
