Center Ponovne Uporabe (CPU)
Center Ponovne Uporabe is a pioneering social company established in 2010, marking the introduction of Slovenia's first reuse centre.
As of 2025, the organisation operates four distinct centres and is part of a six-member consortium comprising social and non-profit organisations. With a dedicated team of 36 full-time employees, 85% of whom are individuals with special needs, Center Ponovne Uporabe has actively participated in over 70 national and EU projects since its inception. The organisation has played a crucial role in revolutionising waste management in Slovenia by implementing initiatives like the yellow bag system. Each year, they successfully sell over 100,000 pre-owned items and produce around 5,000 new products repurposed from discarded materials. Their mission is to enhance the diversion of items from waste to reusable products while simultaneously creating employment opportunities, particularly for individuals with special needs.
