Upcycled products find new customers online

The Remesh workshop at Ateliere Fără Frontiere turns discarded advertising banners and meshes into new chances for both people and materials. To reach more customers and make better use of surplus products, the team launched the remesh webshop early on and promoted it on social media. The online shop has become a key digital tool for showcasing unique upcycled items such as bags, pouches and folders, many of them customised for companies that donate their own promotional materials.

Remesh was created to support disadvantaged women who face barriers to employment. In the workshop, they gain paid work, learn tailoring skills and build confidence. Day-to-day, they combine craftsmanship with basic digital tasks: preparing and sewing materials, photographing finished products, and helping to list them online. Training is practical and on-the-job, with clear steps adapted to different levels of experience and literacy.

In recent years, Remesh has invested more in digitalisation. The webshop has been improved through search engine optimisation so that it appears more often when people search for upcycled or socially responsible products. A dedicated section with online forms now makes it easier for business‑to‑business customers to place and customise larger orders. Customers who buy online can fill in a satisfaction survey, and a questionnaire is planned for visitors who browse but do not purchase, helping the team understand how to improve the user journey.

Behind the scenes, digital tools also support communication with partners who donate meshes and order products. The team uses online platforms and portals to keep accurate records, schedule appointments and exchange documents, making cooperation smoother and more professional.

Looking ahead, the team is monitoring e‑commerce trends and considering investing in a higher‑performance website to better showcase their products.
