This workshop, co-organised by RREUSE as a member of the EPR Club, is a partner event of the EU Green Week 2025.
The event will explore the important role of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes in the context of the upcoming Circular Economy Act. It aims to serve as a dynamic forum for discussion among key stakeholders. Participants will explore the opportunities and challenges associated with leveraging EPR as a key instrument to foster a circular, competitive, and resilient economy across the EU single market.
Building on the EPR Club’s established mission of bringing together stakeholders to discuss EPR policies and foster good practices, this workshop will focus specifically on how the Circular Economy Act can effectively utilise EPR mechanisms to promote circular business models. The agenda will include expert insights from various perspectives, including an overview of EPR’s achievements, limitations, and future potential. It will also examine practical experiences of EPR implementation at local and regional levels to enhance the quality and quantity of separate collection, and explore strategies for designing EPR schemes that prioritise reuse, including funding models, targets, and support for social enterprises.
Furthermore, the workshop will address how EPR currently supports recycling activities and identify areas for improvement, with a specific focus on the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) sector.
