Ballymagroarty Hazelbank Community Partnership (BHCP)
Ballymagroarty Hazelbank Community Partnership (BHCP) is a community-led organisation serving Outer West Derry (Ballymagroarty, Hazelbank, Glen/Coshquin, and Rosemount), dedicated to improving health, wellbeing, and environmental sustainability. Our circular economy work centres on reducing waste and keeping resources in use through practical community initiatives.
Our Community Fridge redistributes surplus food from local retailers, preventing food waste while supporting households experiencing food insecurity. Our Read and Feed Hub tackles both literacy and food poverty together. At Marianus Glen, we are developing sustainable community space proposals that integrate food growing, composting, repair activities, and low-waste living practices. Our community garden at Barrs Lane enables residents to grow their own food, compost organic waste, learn sustainable gardening, and participate in hands-on reuse activities. Through these projects, BHCP advances a local circular economy by reducing landfill, promoting resource reuse, and building community resilience around food security and environmental sustainability.
