Rural Action plays a vital role in promoting and supporting the circular economy through the delivery of its various programmes that address community resilience, enhancement of the local economy, and promotion of environmental sustainability in rural areas of Northern Ireland and beyond. We do this through: 1. Community Engagement: whereby we engage with local communities to raise awareness about sustainable practices and the importance of the circular economy. Workshops, educational and recreational programmes, and events focus on recycling, waste reduction, and resource efficiency. 2. Support for Local Rural Social Enterprise: Rural social enterprises are encouraged to adopt circular economy principles and to consider opportunities for collaboration and learning. 3. Resource Recovery: We encourage resource recovery initiatives, which involve repurposing materials that might otherwise be discarded. Currently under investigation with community organisations, a number of initiatives are being considered for piloting. 4. Partnerships and Collaboration: We are keen to collaborate with statutory, public, private and voluntary sectors with any learning and best practice shared from our activities, informing policy at both a local and national level.
