The upcoming Circular Economy Act (CEA) could mark a turning point for how the EU manages resources, but only if it tackles the root causes of overproduction, overconsumption, and material waste.
In our new position paper, we set out our priorities for the CEA, urging policymakers to place waste prevention, reuse and repair at the heart of the legislation. Based on the experience of our social enterprises working on the ground, the paper outlines how the CEA can support local job creation, reduce Europe’s reliance on virgin materials, and strengthen the role of social enterprises in the circular economy.
From fairer funding through Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes to stronger reuse targets and inclusive governance, our position paper offers ten concrete policy recommendations to ensure the Circular Economy Act delivers both environmental and social impact.
