RREUSE submitted its feedback on the European Commission’s Call for Evidence for the forthcoming Circular Economy Act (CEA).
While welcoming the EU’s recognition of the circular economy’s transformative potential for the EU economy, we express concern about the current narrow focus on recycling.
RREUSE calls for stronger action on waste prevention and reuse, clearer and fairer funding mechanisms, and legal frameworks that truly empower social enterprises. Our responses to both the call for evidence and the public consultation set out concrete recommendations, including binding reuse targets, mandatory cost coverage for reuse activities, and inclusive EPR governance, to unlock the full potential of social enterprises and advance a genuinely circular and socially just European economy.
