The European Environmental Bureau and partner organisations, including RREUSE, call for ambitious binding preparation-for-reuse targets to increase the reuse of electronic waste under the revised WEEE Directive.
The evaluation of the Directive made it clear that the existing framework has not provided sufficient incentives to prioritise reuse and preparation for reuse over recycling. With less than 2% of electronic waste currently prepared for reuse, this joint statement urges policymakers to 1) strengthen producer responsibility, 2) secure dedicated funding, and 3) prioritize reuse over recycling.
