RREUSE's answer to the Digital Product Passport consultation for repairers, refurbishers, repurposers and recyclers

RREUSE provided input to the impact assessment for potential requirements for digital product passport (DPP) service providers, one of the key measures to be adopted under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). We provided our views by answering a survey aimed at repairers, refurbishers, repurposers and recyclers, reflecting the priorities of our network regarding the future use of DPPs.

Our answer to the survey highlights the importance of ensuring easy access to DPP information to all value chain actors. Information on expected product lifetime, repair manuals and instructions, spare parts and updates information, for example, should be included and made easily accessible through DPPs. We also stressed how crucial it is to make sure reuse and repair actors can insert relevant information, and that DPP data is kept secure, backed up, and available for at least the expected lifetime of a product. Designing DPP interfaces to be user-friendly and accessible is also crucial to ensure information can be used and is beneficial to all value chain actors and end-users.
